It was here that Sir James Brooke, an English adventurer and the founder of the Brooke Dynasty ( 1841- 1941) in Sarawak, Borneo, carved for himself a name in history as the greatest of all the European adventurers who dared to venture on to the shores of Borneo and into its deep and wild interior. More importantly, the legacy of romance and adventures that he left behind him lives on, lovingly preserved by the people of Sarawak.
